Tyler Watts arrived at Tennessee as one of the world's most heralded recruits, peaking at No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking as the top-ranked junior. A 2026 USA Walker Cup selection and two-time U.S. National Junior Team member, Watts built a historic amateur resume by winning the 2025 Sunnehanna Amateur, 2025 Elite Amateur Series, and 2026 Northeast Amateur—where he became the youngest champion in event history with a course-record 60 (-9).
Before even teeing off for the Vols, he went a perfect three-for-three in making cuts in PGA TOUR appearances, including the 2025 Procore Championship. Entering his 2026–27 freshman season on the Fred Haskins Award Watchlist and earning consensus preseason First Team All-America honors, Watts made an instant collegiate impact. In his debut at the Cullan Brown Collegiate, he fired a 6-under 207 to tie for third place and earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors, following it up with a top-15 showing at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational to quickly solidify his spot among the nation's elite.
